Bob has been a design and/or project engineer for projects for Design 3 Engineering since 1993. In 1999 he became a partner and in 2017 became the sole owner. He is actively involved in every aspect of the operation of the company as well as in the planning, analysis, cost estimating, design and construction management for the various projects produced.
Bob has been the head design engineer and project engineer for many of the projects over the last 24 years. Design experience includes mechanical systems design, analysis and planning for everything from large central campus distribution, to individual buildings down to remodels of individual spaces and historic renovations. Projects include new construction and remodel projects ranging from industrial to residential, administrative and office spaces, schools, recreation centers, multipurpose buildings, maintenance facilities, kitchens, bar/grill, restaurants, dining rooms, retail and specialty shops, locker rooms, fitness rooms, and swimming pools. Building and system design experience includes removal, replacement and modifications to existing systems as well as design of all new systems such as Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, heating water supply and return, chilled water supply and return, domestic plumbing and fixtures, and specialty installations such as kitchens, bars, fire sprinkler, etc. Individual component experience includes chillers and condensing units, interior and exterior air handlers, steam and hot water boilers, steam and hot water heating, in-slab radiant heating and overhead gas fired low intensity radiant heat. One unique example of energy efficient design, that Bob did all of the mechanical design for is a $28,000,000 Readiness Center for the National Guard which is certified as LEED Gold.
